Overview

Businesses rely on disconnected applications that require constant manual data transfer and repetitive tasks. While automation platforms exist, they force users to choose between simplicity with limited capabilities or powerful features hidden behind technical complexity.

Teams waste hours on workflows that could be automated, yet lack the technical skills to build integrations.

The goal: create a visual automation platform that delivers enterprise-grade power through an interface anyone can understand.

Where design comes in

Workflow automation requires more than connecting applications. It demands sophisticated data transformations, conditional logic, and error handling that traditionally need coding expertise.

The design set out to transform automation into visual design, enabling teams to build complex workflows with branching logic and data transformations with low-code.

Design in action

The design process began by identifying the gap between basic automation tools and enterprise needs. I created a node-based canvas to turn complex workflows into clear, editable diagrams, making powerful integrations accessible to every team. Key design:

  • Visual workflow builder: A connected canvas that maps data flow from triggers to actions, making logic instantly clear.
  • Structured configuration: Guided panels for setup, authentication, and error handling provide detailed control without complexity.
  • Discoverable components: Searchable libraries with clear iconography for authentication, tasks, inputs and outputs.
  • Advanced filtering: Simple selections expand into precise logic for accurate workflow routing.
  • Visual logic: Branching paths, toggles and status indicators turn abstract rules into intuitive decision trees.
What changed

Users can now build workflows that once required developer support, while technical teams gained faster prototyping capabilities. The visual approach reduced errors through real-time feedback and sped up onboarding through intuitive design.

Workflows are now self-documenting, allowing teams to understand and update automations without heavy knowledge transfer. Automations are created faster, with lower costs and fewer technical dependencies.

Impact

AireGlu turns complex integrations into accessible visual workflows. The platform removes coding barriers while keeping enterprise-level flexibility for advanced data transformations and conditional logic, enabling teams to automate without compromise.
